CURRENT PROJECT

Building Homes with 'Habitat for Humanity' in Uganda fall 2009.

In the fall of 2009, Hands Across Africa will be partnering with Habitat to build homes for those in need in Uganda. As in previous projects Hands Across Africa will be planning an adventure to go along with this project. Perhaps hiking the Rwenzori Mountain in south west Uganda or a visit to the Gorrilla's in south Uganda.

A fundraising Journey: Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

Overview of Project

The Hands Across Africa project was started by a group of healthcare professionals doing rehabilitation work at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It has now evolved into a group of participant-volunteers who will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in an effort to raise money to support three rehabilitation projects in Africa.

Why get involved?

  1. To improve the lives of people living in poverty in three African countries.
  2. To bring together a group of Albertan health professionals to work towards a common goal.
  3. It doesn't take much to make a big difference.

Who will benefit?

  1. Sierra Leone - Rural rehabilitation clinic - serving people who have been affected by war.
  2. South Africa - HIV/AIDS outreach and community development project in rural South Africa
  3. Tanzania - Amani Children's Home which offers education, vocational trainingin and housing for abandoned and abused children.
