Amani Children's Home offers education, vocational training and housing for abandoned and abused children.

At the base of Mount Kilimanjaro is the town of Moshi. Within Moshi there is an orphanage, Amani Children’s Home, that houses about 60 children. The goals of this orphanage are to take in the vulnerable population, street children, and HIV/AIDS orphans. It provides a safe environment where the children are given education, health information and a hope of reunification with their families. It made sense to Hands Across Africa that if we were going to be hiking Mount.Kili, we would want to give back to this community. In fact, several of the participant volunteers will be staying in Moshi after the hike to volunteer their time and talents to this orphanage. For more details about Amani, go to www.amanikids.org.
